Abstract:
The consumption and loss of electrical energy in the process of turning paddy into white rice is an important issue that has received little attention. In this research, two rice processing plants in Guilan province with two different levels of technology were investigated and compared with a power analyzer. Power consumption of electric motors installed on similar devices in two factories were measured and optimization solutions were presented. The results showed that in case of correcting the errors made in the installation and use of electric motors related to sieves, elevators, whiteners, sieves for rice and rice husk pulverizer, respectively, 4.3 billion tomans, 3.4 billion tomans, 6.55 billion tomans, 3.4 billion tomans and 40.7 billion tomans and also in the total scale of the equipment of rice mills, nearly 58.35 billion tomans will be saved. To achieve these savings, the necessity of using the services of biosystem engineers with energy audit expertise is undeniable.
