Abstract:
The drying process in rice mills is important and necessary in order to carry out whitening operations. Investigations showed that drying paddy is about 55% of the total energy consumption of a factory, which has a lot of negative environmental effects for the ecosystem due to the fact that this energy is a fossil source. In order to supply energy to the dryers of rice mill with solar technology, energy flow simulation was done in Homer software. This simulation included the thermal energy requirement and the economic evaluation of the drying process in a rice mill. The heat energy requirement of the drying system in rice mill with a daily consumption of about 586.43 kilowatt hours is provided by using a renewable system consisting of photovoltaic arrays with a power of 2600 kilowatts and an inverter to convert direct current to alternating current with a power of 2000 kilowatts. The simulation results in Homer software showed that the total initial cost and current net cost of the system are 7.10 and 7.31 million US dollars, respectively.
