An overview of methods and solutions to improve the efficiency of solar dryers

Abstract:
Solar dryers are utilized as a clean and sustainable technology for drying various materials in different industries. This article introduces techniques that can contribute to improving the efficiency of solar dryers. Among the examined methods, the utilization of heat storage materials, finned and slotted absorber plates, and perforated absorber plates are discussed to enhance the performance and functionality of solar dryers. The incorporation of heat storage materials enables continuous drying of materials by absorbing and storing solar heat during low-light periods. Additionally, finned and slotted absorber plates improve heat transfer rates and efficiency by increasing the surface area exposed to solar radiation and creating airflow patterns. Perforated absorber plates optimize airflow and control its velocity and pressure, reducing drying time and preventing energy losses. With the efforts and research conducted in this field, the potential for sustained improvement in the efficiency of solar dryers and increased effectiveness is made attainable. These advancements in solar dryers, as a viable and effective solution for energy supply and material drying in various industries, can play a significant role in achieving sustainability and renewable energy objectives.
