Abstract:
Soil erosion has weakened soil fertility and reduced production on a significant level of the country's lands. But few farmers have put the implementation of conservation tillage on their agenda. The present study seeks to identify and rank the causes of some farmers' reluctance to use conservation tillage. The studied area is Gilanghreb city located in Kermanshah province. A questionnaire was used to collect the required data. The designed questionnaire included 22 options (the reasons for the reluctance of some farmers to implement conservation tillage), which were used using a Likert scale, and 30 questionnaires were completed by the target community. The ranking of 22 options was done using three criteria (opinions of university professors, experts of the Jihad Agricultural Organization and farmers of the region) by Electre's multi-criteria decision-making method. Finally, 4 options with the highest score were identified as the most important reasons for the reluctance of some farmers to implement conservation tillage, which include the managerial and supervisory reasons including the lack of long-term planning for the development of conservation tillage and the lack of allocation of appropriate financial resources and credits for the development of conservation tillage, as well as the support causes including the lack of financial resources and appropriate facilities to farmers for the implementation of conservation tillage and the lack of insurance to farmers to compensate for the possible loss due to less production in the early years of the implementation of conservation tillage.
