Abstract:
This research was conducted with the aim of the effect of foliar spraying of Asafoetida plant on the physical and mechanical properties of red apple in Razavi Khorasan province. In this regard, in order to prepare Asafoetida solution, a combination of 50 kg of Asafoetida with 250 liters of water was used, and pressure and penetration tests were performed to check the mechanical properties. In the examination of the physical properties, the results of the four properties of length, width, thickness and the geometric mean diameter showed that the effectiveness of Asafoetida solution was more than that of chemical poisons in improving the geometric properties of red apple. In the pressure test for whole fruit, the foliar treatment with chemical poisons had the highest breaking force with 867.60 Newtons and in the pressure test for the cylindrical sample, the foliar spraying treatment with 226.95 Newtons had the highest breaking force. The results of the penetration test showed that the maximum breaking force and deformation of the sample under penetration was 40.04 newtons and 6.37 mm respectively in the whole fruit sample and 41.12 newtons and 7.44 mm respectively in the cylindrical sample. In the investigation of the penetration test with a cylindrical probe on the whole fruit sample and the flat cylindrical sample, the results showed that the foliar spraying treatment with 49.22 and 38.57 newtons, respectively, had a higher average breaking force than the other treatments.
