Abstract:
The implementation of rice transplanting machines and the advancement of mechanization have been identified as fundamental strategies to mitigate the high labor costs associated with rice production. This study aims to identify the factors that promote or hinder the mechanization of rice production in Guilan province. Specifically, the study aims to identify an appropriate location for establishing a rice seedling nursery in the Khoshk-e-Bijar district of Rasht county as a case study, which is situated in the northern region of Iran. The present study utilized the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process method to allocate weights to the significant factors that are essential in determining the optimal location for the rice seedling nursery (RSN). Among the various criteria considered, the highest rank was given to the area of mechanized harvest, followed by population and total distance from all villages. The findings of the fuzzy VIKOR analysis indicate that Tamal, Vishka, and Shahrestan villages are the most suitable locations for establishing a RSN in Khoshk-e Bijar region, respectively. The findings indicate that VIKOR is a robust methodology for addressing location-based problems. Simultaneously, this approach lacks an effective weighting model. Therefore, utilizing a composite model that integrates the Analytic Hierarchy Process and VIKOR will yield reliable outcomes.
