Abstract:
Alfalfa weevil is a serious pest of this crop and the lack of its control, leads destroying the first harvest and retardation of second harvest. The lack of familiarity with the suitable equipment and proper time of spraying aggravates this problem and increases the frequency of spraying. So, in this project, effects of sprayer type and time and frequency of spraying on alfalfa weevil control was investigated. The experimental design was a factorial test conducted based on the completely randomized block design with three factors and three replications. The measured parameters in this study were pest population, crop yield and yield’s lost caused by this pest. The results in percentage of reduction of insect population, showed significant differences between sprayer types, spraying times, frequency of spraying. The yield results indicated significant difference between spraying times, frequency of spraying and interaction of them. Comparison of control and treatments yield’s showed that no spraying reduced yield by 31 to 50 percent.
