Design, construction of a vertical greenhouse with LED artificial light (PFAL)

Abstract:
Vertical greenhouses are an advanced solution for increasing the productivity of agricultural products with the lowest consumption of resources and growing different plants in urban environments. Environmental factors such as the amount of sunlight, precipitation level, air temperature, and humidity are among the influencing factors in agriculture. In this research, a vertical greenhouse prototype was built with systems required for plant growth, including artificial light, LED lamps, irrigation systems, ventilation, and hydroponic culture medium for plant growth and development. Among the capabilities of the device to change the height of the layers to produce different products, is to change the spectrum of different lights for effective use in the photosynthesis of plants. The built vertical greenhouse has dimensions of 1 x 1 m, total height of 2.30 m in 3 layers with a distance of 75 cm. The evaluation results showed that the lighting system accounts for 83%, cooling 14% and other systems 3% of electrical energy consumption.
