Abstract:
Hyperspectral imaging is a useful technique to acquire the reflectance of materials over 400-2500 nm of electromagnetic spectrum by combining spectroscopy and imaging technologies. This ability provides a non-destructive assessment of internal and external properties of materials and has led to vast applications of hyperspectral imaging in different academic fields. The acquired images are processed to extract different features from selected image channels and then analyzed by statistical or artificial intelligence methods. agriculture, natural resources, and food sectors require new technologies to increase technical and economic productivity and decrease environmental impacts. Hyperspectral imaging has been applied to assess internal and external properties of agriculture, natural resources, and food materials. The hyperspectral imaging technique is briefly described in this paper and its applications in agriculture, natural resources and food have been discussed. The goal of the present paper is to concisely review the applications of near-infrared hyperspectral imaging in agriculture, natural resources, and food sectors in Iran.
