Abstract:
The wastage of agricultural products in Iran is an important problem in this sector. According to the available information, the amount of potato waste is very significant, while the yield per unit area, energy and the amount of protein produced in potatoes are high. One of the most important and common mechanical damages to agricultural products is bruising caused by impact. The impact produces stress waves that propagate in the contact area. The main purpose of this article is to design, build and evaluate a device equipped with accurate measurement tools, called a sensor potato, to store the size and frequency of blows with different intensities in its internal memory or by radio. send to the central computer. The sensor potato consisted of a digital three-axis acceleration sensor, processor and data logger and was covered with a flexible plastic housing. In order to check the performance of the system, a fall test was conducted in the form of a completely random design. The independent variables included the height of fall in four levels, and the type of impact surface in two levels. The obtained results indicated a significant effect of the height and type of the impact surface on the impact rate.
